Medicine in CryoFall encompasses the recovery of the player's health points and the mitigation of damaging Status Effects. There are a variety of medicines available to be crafted at a Medical Laboratory, after researching the appropriate Technology. Some medications treat existing ailments, while others provide protection against effects such as Toxins and Radiation Poisoning. Additionally, some Foods temporarily increase health regeneration and health points.

Health Points and Health Regeneration[ | ]

The Player has a base of 100 health points, which increases with increased Survival skill. If damaged, the player slowly regenerates health. Healing items increase the speed of health regeneration when consumed, providing either Healing (+1 HP per second) or Fast Healing (+10 HP per second) buffs for a certain period. Consuming Healthy Food increases HP regeneration by 25% and increases total HP by 10 points when the buff is active. The Healing Gland Implant, a cybernetic Implant, dramatically increases health regeneration as long as it is installed.

Several debuffs inhibit health regeneration or cause continual loss of health points. Bleeding, Severe Laceration, Hunger, Thirst, Toxins, Radiation Poisoning, and Psi Influence all cause the Player continuous health damage and reduce health regeneration by 100%. A Player suffering from Broken Implant Sickness will have reduced maximum HP until the broken implant is removed.

When the Player's health points drop below 10% of maximum, the Severe Pain debuff is inflicted. When the Player's health reaches zero, the Player will die.

Medical Technologies[ | ]

The most basic medicines, gathered herbs, require no technology at all. The first crafted medicine the Player learns is the Herbal Remedy as part of the Tier 1 Cooking 1 technology. From there, Medicine 1, Medicine 2 and Medicine 3 provide recipes for increasingly effective and specialized medications. Additional research can be undertaken in the Tier 4 Cybernetics 1 tree to unlock Implants that improve health and other stats. Recreation 1 unlocks Tincture and Liquor, alcoholic drinks that also have a Healing effect. The Herbal Drink, which provides a small anti-Toxins effect, is unlocked in Canning 1.

Miscellaneous Medical Items[ | ]

Other items are unlocked in the Medical technology tree but do not directly impact health or healing. Small and Large Strength Boosts improve the Player's Strength, providing faster mining and woodcutting and increased melee damage. The Neural Enhancer generates Learning Points when used. The Neural Recombinator resets all unlocked technologies and returns the learning points to the Player, so that a different combination of technologies can be unlocked.
