CryoFall includes a complex farming system with a variety of crops, growth cycle simulation, fertilizers, and irrigation. There are a range of cooking recipes that use the harvested produce. Performing farming tasks increases the Player's farming skill. To begin farming, the Player must unlock the Farming 1 Technology.

Seeds[ | ]
There are a many different Plants that can be found in the world of CryoFall, however only some of these can be cultivated by the Player. The Player must first obtain appropriate Seeds from picking up grass or searching Supply Crates. After harvesting the first crop, new seeds can be crafted at the Farming Workbench.
Farm Plots[ | ]
To plant seeds, the Player must construct Farm Plots within their land claim. Farm Plots are unlocked with Farming 1 and are included in the Buildings menu. Some seeds can also be planted in Plant Pots.
Trees[ | ]
Saplings can be planted to grow a tree of that type. Planting saplings increases the farming skill, although harvesting trees improves the Lumbering skill. Saplings can be planted anywhere, so long as they are at least one tile away from other trees and obstacles. They require no care after planting. The following trees drop saplings:

Crop Growth[ | ]
Each type of plant takes a different amount of time to mature and bear produce. Growth speed can be increased through application of fertilizers and by watering with a watering can or Sprinkler. Mulch, created at a Mulchbox, increases crop growth speed by 100%. Fertilizer, crafted at the Farming Workbench, increases growth speed by 200% and also improves crop yield.
Watering plants with a watering can increases growth speed by 100% for one hour. Hygroscopic Granules will retain moisture around watered crops indefinitely until harvested. There are four tiers of watering cans, with more advanced tiers holding more water before they need to be refilled:

Watering cans are refilled by left-clicking on a Well or Water Collector, or automatically from Bottle With Pure Water in the Player's inventory. Water Sprinklers can be filled with water bottles to automatically water crops in the vicinity.
Using a combination of fertilizer, watering, and maxing out the Farming (skill), crop growth speed can be increased by up to 700% (8x faster).

Crop Withering[ | ]
If left without harvesting, crops will eventually wither and die. Watering the plant when it is ready for harvest will reset the time to wither, allowing the Player to maintain crops at the mature stage indefinitely.
