Quest basics[edit | edit source]

CryoFall has several dozens of different quests that act as a tutorial and explain not just how to get started but also introduce almost all aspects of the game, later quests also function as interesting goals to strive for early in the game.

New quests are unlocked automatically when finishing previous quests. Usually you have between one and three quests at any time.

All the quest in the game are separated into three distinct tiers of difficulty:

  • Stage 1 - focuses on basics of the game such as gathering resources, crafting, building and so on. These quests give 10 LP as a reward.
  • Stage 2 - focuses on establishing a permanent base with all industrial, agricultural and other foundations which will be necessary in the game. These quests give 25 LP as a reward.
  • State 3 - focuses on all remaining basic parts of the game, exploration, combat and so on. Everything that will be necessary to transition into late game afterwards. These quests give 100 LP as a reward.

Hints:

  • Waterbulb plants grow in almost all biomes, but they can be most commonly found growing on meadows in temperate biomes.

Build A Permanent Base[edit | edit source]

Prerequisites: Craft And Equip Cloth Armor and Gather Herbs And Make Medicine

Understanding how to protect your base is very important! If you don't do it right, you can be easily raided by more cunning survivors.

The most important point is correctly using the land claim to ensure your base is well protected. To better plan the construction of your base, you should place the land claim structure first, before you place any walls, doors or other structures.

Once your land claim is placed in a good position, you can start constructing walls around it. It is critical to put walls inside of the land claim protection area; otherwise any other survivor would be able to deconstruct them in seconds.

The land claim area can also be expanded to protect more ground, and you can thicken your wall with additional layers to make sure you are well protected. Generally two layers are enough to dissuade most attackers to leave your base alone, unless you have something particularly valuable there.

It is advised to have at least two doors into your base, but having more is even better.

Reward: 25 LP

Hints:

  • Open your land claim menu by interacting with the land claim structure. You an see detailed information about it or upgrade it to higher tiers.
  • Structures outside of the land claim area will decay quickly over the course of a day or two. Make sure to build only inside of your land claim area.
  • You can deconstruct any structures quickly and conveniently by using a crowbar (from Tier 1 Construction) as long as it's inside your land claim area.
  • You don't have to place all crafting stations and other structures inside your base. Since there is nothing to steal, other players will generally leave them be, so you can save a lot of space inside your base for more important structures, such as chests and smelters.

Build A Furnace And Smelt Copper[edit | edit source]

Prerequisites: Build A Permanent Base

You will need to unlock and build a furnace to be able to smelt copper an other metals. Metals serve as the primary resource and foundation for all industrial process in CryoFall.

Being able to build anything is nice, but you might also want to know how to deconstruct your buildings. To do that, you can use a crowbar! As long as the building you are trying to deconstruct is inside of your land claim area, that is.

Hints:

  • For the purposes of this quest you can deconstruct a section of the wall or something equally cheap, so you don't lose valuable resources.
  • You can only deconstruct buildings inside your land claim area.
  • Deconstruction is the best way to remove any unnecessary or obsolete building or structure.
